Editor’s Review:
Member Lynda West Hahn writes of her interest in the notes on Gowing Cemetery in the last issue of the Bulletin. Although she grew up in the Phelps area she was not aware of this old burial ground. Lynda has been identifying people in the Round Grove Cemetery, and says that the Mary Frances Young Maynard, buried at Round Grove, is a daughter of Edward and Dolly Jane (Williams) Young. She has been in contact with descendants of both the Young and Maynard families who agree on her identification. Lynda says she found the Young family of Mary Francis Young Maynard in Bradley County, Tennessee in 1850, Wright County, Missouri in 1860 and Mary and some siblings in Ripley County, Missouri in the 1870 Census. Does any one know if there is a relationship between the above Edward Young and Riley Young and William Young of Lawrence County?

Editor’s Review:
The list of Federal soldiers found elsewhere in this issue is from the 1917 History of Lawrence County which we started in July 2006. Due to space and production problems it has been delayed for some time. Additional installments ran in October, 2006, and July 2007.

Sympathy is extended to First Vice President Gary Daughtrey on the death of his mother, Mildred, on Dec. 6th, 2007. She was 84. Graveside services were Dec. 8th, with burial in the Mt. Vernon 100F Cemetery.

Jan and Harold Willis have placed the old Zion Cemetery on the internet. Inscriptions and photos of nearly 420 markers can be found on Findagrave.com. You may search by name or by cemetery. We are pleased to see this site. Your editor has been secretary at Zion over 40 years, and hopes to make a few additions and corrections later. There are some photos from several other Lawrence County cemeteries, although not as complete as Zion. Others may be added in time.
